Linux on an Aero is a great combination I run Emacs for everyday things,

and doing work. When I get home, I plug the Aero into my LAN, and the mail
is sent. The Aero is small and quiet, perfect for note-taking.

I, and my wife, find the Aero a good product for the mix of work and home needs we have. It's the perfect size for business trips. Great little fax machine. Loaded: 3 different on-line PCbanking pgms, Sales-demo programs for clients (thats where the screen hurts), MSWorks (swap files with work PC), ClarisWorks (swap files with home Mac), AOL, few other programs. We call it "The little processor that could." We'd buy another.

I have added an Altec Multimedia with 8xCDRom, 16 bit Sound Card, and
Game Port to my Aero 4/33C. I'm currently using CShow for viewing
graphics in 360x480x256, it works really good compared to the 16 color
picture you get normally. I really like the Aero and hope to get to
256 color in Win95 if we can ever figure it out, I know there's a lot
of people working at it. I have 12MB Ram and am going to eventually
go to 20Mb. A space saving project I am working on until I upgrade
my 255MB Hard Drive is to use the CDRom for many files and programs.
By borrowing a CD Wrighter.
I now have Office Pro 4.3 running as a server on the CD, and run with
5 MB of space on my Hard Drive (100MB on CD)used for the .mda
files and a few others to get it to work properly. It takes a little
redirecting of some of the paths in some files, but the advanced find
feature in Win 95 makes it easy. I also put the Windows Cab files on
Same CD. along with a lot of other Stuff.
If anybody finds a solution to the color problem, or maybe even the
ability to trick programs into running without it please let me know.
The size of everything is perfect, we just need more colors.
The Aero must live on.

I just bought my Aero a week ago, used from Argecy Computing. I asked before, they said they refurbish them, paint, repair, etc. Ha! Mine arrived with a clutch near the breaking point. I'll replace it soon. The ECP port had no screws holding it in. But that's okay, their price was better than anywhere and I LOVE this Aero SO MUCH, I'd NEVER send it back.
It's WAY faster than I every dreamed, light years beyond my SLT386s20 (which I covet as well), weighs a lot less too. The keyboard is incredibly good for such a little thing, it's size and weight being it's best attribute, aside from its dashing good looks and charm.
My Presario 3020 (Ultimate design????), which I bought about two months ago will have to claw it's way into my heart and will NEVER be as endearing to me as my one week old Aero!
Thanks for maintaining this page!

Local Compaq agent said this repair was "a first": replacement of the entire motherboard because the parallel port failed and produced garbage.
Tests and a Compaq engineer confirm the Aero is not "millenium-bug" proof are there any BIOS updates to take it past the year 2000?
